MAGEA10-MAGEA5


MAGEA10 and MAGEA5, members of the melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) family, are intriguing genes with diverse functions in cancer development, immune response, and cellular processes. These genes encode proteins that play critical roles in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and immune recognition. Notably, MAGEA10 and MAGEA5 are frequently overexpressed in various cancers, where they contribute to tumor growth, metastasis, and immune evasion.

Aberrant expression of MAGEA10 and MAGEA5 has been linked to the development and progression of multiple types of cancer, including:

  • Melanoma: MAGEA10 is frequently overexpressed in melanoma, where it promotes tumor growth, invasion, and angiogenesis.
  • Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC): MAGEA5 overexpression in NSCLC is associated with poor prognosis and shorter survival.
  • Breast cancer: MAGEA10 and MAGEA5 are both upregulated in breast cancer, where they contribute to tumor growth and metastasis.
  • Ovarian cancer: MAGEA5 overexpression in ovarian cancer is linked to increased invasiveness and resistance to chemotherapy.
  • Gastrointestinal cancers: MAGEA10 and MAGEA5 are overexpressed in various gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal cancer and gastric cancer, where they promote tumor progression and metastasis.
