LYPLA2

Description

The LYPLA2 (lysophospholipase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

LYPLA2, also known as Acyl-protein thioesterase 2 (APT-2), acts as an enzyme that removes fatty acids from specific cysteine residues in proteins. It has been shown to deacylate GAP43 and mediate depalmitoylation of ZDHHC6. LYPLA2 also exhibits lysophospholipase activity, hydrolyzing prostaglandin glycerol esters (PG-Gs) in a specific order (PGD2-G > PGE2-G > PGF2-alpha-G). It can also hydrolyze 1-arachidonoylglycerol but not its isomer or arachidonoylethanolamide.

LYPLA2 is also known as APT-2, APT2, DJ886K2.4.
