LRRFIP1

Description

The LRRFIP1 (LRR binding FLII interacting protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Leucine-rich repeat flightless-interacting protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LRRFIP1 gene.

LRRFIP1 acts as a transcriptional repressor, preferentially binding to GC-rich sequences (5'-AGCCCCCGGCG-3'). It plays a role in regulating the expression of TNF, EGFR, and PDGFA. LRRFIP1 may control smooth muscle cell proliferation after artery injury by repressing PDGFA expression. It can bind double-stranded RNA. LRRFIP1 positively regulates Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling in response to agonists by competing with the negative FLII regulator for MYD88 binding.

LRRFIP1 is also known as FLAP-1, FLAP1, FLIIAP1, GCF-2, GCF2, HUFI-1, TRIP.
