LRRC59
Description
The LRRC59 (leucine rich repeat containing 59) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
LRRC59 is essential for the nuclear import of fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1), but not for FGF2. It might regulate the nuclear import of external FGF1 by aiding in its interaction with the nuclear import machinery and by moving FGF1 from the cytoplasm to, and possibly through, the nuclear pores.
