LRRC23

Description

The LRRC23 (leucine rich repeat containing 23) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

LRRC23, short for Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 23, is a protein found in humans. It's encoded by the LRRC23 gene. While the exact function of LRRC23 is not fully understood, it belongs to the leucine-rich repeat family of proteins, known for their role in protein-protein interactions. Research suggests that LRRC23 interacts with the CD28 protein, potentially influencing immune responses and the development of regulatory T cells, which help control autoimmune diseases. LRRC23 has a structure that includes two types of repeating sequences: leucine-rich repeats (9 times) and another repeating sequence (2 times). The human genome generates three variations of LRRC23, with the largest version containing 8 exons.

LRRC23 is also known as LRPB7, SPGF92.
