LRFN2

Description

The LRFN2 (leucine rich repeat and fibronectin type III domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

LRFN2 promotes the growth of neurites (extensions of nerve cells) in the hippocampus, a brain region important for memory. It increases the number of NMDA receptors, specifically GRIN1 and GRIN2A, on the surface of neurons. It might also help move the protein DLG4 towards the edges of the cell.

LRFN2 is also known as FIGLER2, KIAA1246, SALM1.
