LPCAT4

Description

The LPCAT4 (lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

LPCAT4 acts as an acyl-CoA-dependent lysophospholipid acyltransferase, catalyzing the transfer of an acyl group from acyl-CoA to a variety of lysophospholipid substrates. It efficiently converts lysophosphatidylethanolamine to phosphatidylethanolamine, lysophosphatidylcholine to phosphatidycholine, 1-alkenyl-lysophosphatidylethanolamine to 1-alkenyl-phosphatidylethanolamine, and also processes lysophosphatidylglycerol and alkyl-lysophosphatidylcholine to their respective phosphatidyl forms. Notably, LPCAT4 does not exhibit activity towards lysophosphatidylinositol, glycerol-3-phosphate, diacylglycerol, or lysophosphatidic acid. This enzyme displays a preference for long chain acyl-CoAs (C16, C18) as acyl donors.

LPCAT4 is also known as AGPAT7, AYTL3, LPAAT-eta, LPEAT2, LPLAT10.
