Telomere Length

Telomeres are the protective caps at the ends of our chromosomes that shorten as cells divide and as we age. Shorter telomeres are associated with aging and an increased risk of age-related diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Telomere length is used as a marker to gauge cellular aging and the overall health of an individual. Measurement of telomere length can provide insights into genetic aging mechanisms and the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions aimed at slowing aging.
