Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a rare, autoimmune blistering disorder that affects the skin and mucous membranes. It is characterized by the formation of painful blisters that can rupture and leave open sores. PV is caused by antibodies that attack desmoglein proteins, which are responsible for holding skin cells together.
