LMX1A

Description

The LMX1A (LIM homeobox transcription factor 1 alpha) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

LMX1A, or LIM homeobox transcription factor 1-alpha, is a protein encoded by the LMX1A gene in humans. It plays a crucial role in regulating insulin gene expression. LMX1A binds to a specific sequence in the insulin gene promoter and stimulates the transcription of insulin, the hormone produced by beta cells in the pancreas. LMX1A has been shown to interact with TCF3 and LHX3, suggesting its involvement in a complex regulatory network.

LMX1A is also known as DFNA7, LMX1, LMX1.1.
