LMAN2

Description

The LMAN2 (lectin, mannose binding 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

Vesicular integral-membrane protein VIP36 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LMAN2 gene.

LMAN2 plays a crucial role as an intracellular lectin in the early secretory pathway. It interacts with N-acetyl-D-galactosamine and high-mannose type glycans, and may also bind to O-linked glycans. This interaction facilitates the transport and sorting of glycoproteins carrying high mannose-type glycans.

LMAN2 is also known as C5orf8, GP36B, VIP36.
