LLGL1

Description

The LLGL1 (LLGL scribble cell polarity complex component 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

LLGL1 is a human gene that encodes a protein similar to a tumor suppressor found in Drosophila. The protein is part of a cytoskeletal network and is associated with nonmuscle myosin II heavy chain. It is phosphorylated at serine residues by a specific kinase. LLGL1 is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17.

LLGL1 is a cortical cytoskeletal protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining cell polarity and epithelial integrity. It is involved in regulating mitotic spindle orientation, cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue organization of neuroepithelial cells. LLGL1 also contributes to axonogenesis by activating RAB10, which regulates vesicular membrane trafficking towards the axonal plasma membrane.

LLGL1 is also known as DLG4, HUGL, HUGL-1, HUGL1, LLGL, Lgl1, Mgl1.
