LIN54

Description

The LIN54 (lin-54 DREAM MuvB core complex component) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

LIN54 is a protein that plays a role in cell cycle regulation. It is a component of the DREAM complex, which is involved in the repression of genes involved in the cell cycle. LIN54 binds to DNA in a sequence-specific manner and is involved in the activation of genes required for mitosis.

LIN54 is a component of the DREAM complex, which functions as both a transcription activator and repressor. In G0 phase, the complex binds to over 800 promoters to repress E2F target genes. During S phase, the complex selectively binds to the promoters of G2/M genes, activating their expression for cell cycle progression. LIN54 specifically binds to the promoter of CDK1 in a sequence-specific manner, recognizing the consensus motif 5'-TTYRAA-3' in target DNA.

LIN54 is also known as CXCDC1, JC8.6, MIP120, TCX1.
