LHX1 : LIM homeobox 1

Description

The LHX1 (LIM homeobox 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The LHX1 gene provides instructions for making a protein that binds to specific regions of DNA and regulates the activity of other genes. This protein is a transcription factor and is part of a large group called homeodomain proteins. The homeodomain allows the protein to bind to DNA. The LHX1 protein is found in many organs and tissues, playing important roles in the development of the brain and female reproductive system.

LHX1 is also known as LIM-1, LIM1.
