LASP1

Description

The LASP1 (LIM and SH3 protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The LASP1 gene encodes a protein belonging to the LIM protein subfamily, characterized by a LIM motif and a Src homology region 3 domain. This protein acts as an actin-binding protein, potentially contributing to cytoskeletal organization. LASP1 has been shown to interact with Zyxin.

LASP1 plays a crucial role in regulating dynamic actin-based cytoskeletal activities. Phosphorylation of LASP1 in response to agonists can further regulate ion transport activities associated with actin, not only in parietal cells but also in other secretory epithelial cell types rich in F-actin.

LASP1 is also known as Lasp-1, MLN50.
