LAS1L

Description

The LAS1L (LAS1 like ribosome biogenesis factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

LAS1-like protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LAS1L gene.

LAS1L is essential for the synthesis of the 60S ribosomal subunit and the maturation of the 28S rRNA. It plays a role in the Five Friends of Methylated CHTOP (5FMC) complex, which is recruited to ZNF148 by methylated CHTOP. This recruitment leads to desumoylation of ZNF148 and subsequent transactivation of ZNF148 target genes. LAS1L is also required for efficient pre-rRNA processing at both ends of internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2).

LAS1L is also known as Las1, Las1-like, MRXSWTS, WTS, dJ475B7.2.
