Laryngeal Papillomatosis (LPR1)
Description:
Laryngeal papillomatosis (LPR1) is a rare, benign condition characterized by the growth of non-cancerous papillomas within the larynx. These papillomas are usually small, wart-like growths that can obstruct the airway, causing difficulty breathing, hoarseness, or a change in voice quality.
Associated Diseases:
- Human papillomavirus (HPV): LPR1 is caused by certain strains of HPV, particularly subtypes 6 and 11.
- Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP): A more severe form of LPR1 that can lead to life-threatening airway obstruction and requires aggressive treatment.
