L3MBTL2

Description

The L3MBTL2 (L3MBTL histone methyl-lysine binding protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

L3MBTL2 protein is encoded by the L3MBTL2 gene in humans. It is involved in regulating gene expression.

L3MBTL2 is a putative Polycomb group (PcG) protein, which means it helps maintain genes in a silenced state. This silencing is likely achieved through modifications to chromatin, the structure that packages DNA. This silencing is heritable, meaning it can be passed down to daughter cells. The protein is part of a complex that remodels chromatin and may help to prevent the activation of genes that trigger cell division.

L3MBTL2 is also known as H-l(3)mbt-l, L3MBT.
