KRTAP10-2

Description

The KRTAP10-2 (keratin associated protein 10-2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 21.

KRTAP10-2, a hair keratin-associated protein, contributes to the formation of a strong and resilient hair shaft. It is located in the hair cortex, where it forms an interfilamentous matrix around hair keratin intermediate filaments. This matrix is crucial for the structural integrity of hair, as KRTAP10-2's abundant cysteine residues participate in extensive disulfide bond cross-linking with hair keratins.

KRTAP10-2 is also known as KAP10.2, KAP18-2, KAP18.2, KRTAP10.2, KRTAP18-2, KRTAP18.2.
