KRR1

Description

The KRR1 (KRR1 small subunit processome component homolog) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

KRR1 small subunit processome component homolog is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KRR1 gene.

KRR1 is a component of the small subunit (SSU) processome, which is the initial precursor of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit. During the assembly of the SSU processome within the nucleolus, numerous ribosome biogenesis factors, an RNA chaperone, and ribosomal proteins interact with the newly synthesized pre-rRNA. These components work together to achieve RNA folding, modifications, rearrangements, and cleavage. Additionally, they facilitate the targeted degradation of pre-ribosomal RNA by the RNA exosome.

KRR1 is also known as HRB2, RIP-1.
