KLK9

Description

The KLK9 (kallikrein related peptidase 9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

KLK9, also known as Kallikrein-related peptidase 9, is an enzyme encoded by the KLK9 gene in humans. It belongs to the kallikrein family of serine proteases, which play various roles in different tissues. KLK9 is mainly found in the thymus, testis, spinal cord, cerebellum, trachea, mammary gland, prostate, brain, salivary gland, ovary, and skin. Interestingly, its expression is regulated by steroid hormones in ovarian and breast cancer cell lines, suggesting its potential as a prognostic marker for early-stage ovarian and breast cancer patients.

KLK9 is also known as KLK-L3, KLKL3.
