KLK15

Description

The KLK15 (kallikrein related peptidase 15) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

Kallikrein-15 is a protein encoded by the KLK15 gene in humans. Kallikreins are a group of serine proteases with various physiological roles. Many kallikreins are linked to cancer development, and some hold potential as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. This gene is part of a cluster of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members on chromosome 19. Its expression is elevated in prostate cancer, suggesting its potential as a diagnostic or prognostic marker for this disease. The gene has multiple polyadenylation sites, and alternative splicing produces different transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.

The physiological substrate of this protease is currently unknown.

KLK15 is also known as ACO, HSRNASPH.
