KLHL13

Description

The KLHL13 (kelch like family member 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

KLHL13 serves as a substrate-specific adapter within the BCR (BTB-CUL3-RBX1) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex, crucial for proper mitotic progression and cell division (cytokinesis). This complex, specifically composed of KLHL9 and KLHL13, facilitates the ubiquitination of AURKB, a protein that plays a role in chromosome segregation during mitosis. By controlling the movement and localization of AURKB on chromosomes, the BCR(KLHL9-KLHL13) complex ensures accurate chromosome separation and successful completion of cell division.

KLHL13 is also known as BKLHD2.
