The KLHDC8B (kelch domain containing 8B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.
KLHDC8B plays a role in pinching off separated nuclei at the cleavage furrow and in cytokinesis (PubMed:20107318). It is essential for mitotic integrity and maintaining chromosomal stability. KLHDC8B protects cells from mitotic errors, centrosomal amplification, micronucleus formation, and aneuploidy (PubMed:22988245, PubMed:23713010). This protein is crucial for midbody function, which involves abscission of daughter cells during cytokinesis and the proper segregation of chromosomes and nuclei into daughter cells (PubMed:22988245, PubMed:23713010).
