KIFC1

Description

The KIFC1 (kinesin family member C1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

KIFC1 is a human protein encoded by the KIFC1 gene. It belongs to the kinesin-14 family and consists of a C-terminal motor domain, a superhelical stalk, and an N-terminal tail domain. Both the tail and motor domains have microtubule-binding sites. This kinesin moves towards the minus-end of microtubules and can slide or crosslink them. KIFC1 is involved in mitotic spindle formation.

KIFC1 is also known as HSET, KNSL2.
