KCNS1

Description

The KCNS1 (potassium voltage-gated channel modifier subfamily S member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

KCNS1 is a gene that encodes a protein in humans. This protein is a voltage-gated potassium channel subunit.

KCNS1 is a potassium channel subunit that cannot function on its own. It forms functional channels when combined with other subunits, specifically KCNB1 and KCNB2. These combinations create heterotetrameric channels, which influence the activation and deactivation rates of the delayed rectifier voltage-gated potassium channel formed by KCNB1 and KCNB2.

KCNS1 is also known as Kv9.1.
