KCNK17

Description

The KCNK17 (potassium two pore domain channel subfamily K member 17) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

KCNK17 gene encodes K2P17.1, a protein belonging to the potassium channel superfamily with two pore-forming P domains. This open channel is primarily found in the pancreas and is activated by an alkaline pH.

KCNK17 is an outward rectifying potassium channel, meaning it allows potassium ions to flow more easily out of the cell than into the cell. It produces rapidly activating and non-inactivating outward rectifier K(+) currents, contributing to the regulation of membrane potential and cellular excitability.

KCNK17 is also known as K2p17.1, TALK-2, TALK2, TASK-4, TASK4.
