KCNH3

Description

The KCNH3 (potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The KCNH3 gene in humans codes for a protein called Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 3, which is a subunit of a voltage-gated potassium channel.

This protein serves as the pore-forming alpha subunit of a voltage-gated potassium channel. It produces an outward current that rapidly inactivates. The channel's characteristics are influenced by cyclic AMP (cAMP) and the arrangement of its subunits.

KCNH3 is also known as BEC1, ELK2, Kv12.2.
