KCNG4

Description

The KCNG4 (potassium voltage-gated channel modifier subfamily G member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

KCNG4, also known as Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily G member 4, is a protein in humans encoded by the KCNG4 gene. It functions as a subunit of voltage-gated potassium channels.

KCNG4 is a potassium channel subunit that cannot form functional channels on its own. However, it can combine with KCNB1 to create functional heterotetrameric channels. This interaction modulates the activation and deactivation rates of KCNB1's delayed rectifier voltage-gated potassium channel (PubMed:19074135).

KCNG4 is also known as KV6.3, KV6.4.
