Kanamycin

Description

Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that effectively combats various bacterial infections, particularly those resistant to other drugs. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, effectively halting their growth and proliferation. Kanamycin is administered intravenously or intramuscularly for severe infections, and orally for gastrointestinal infections. While highly effective, its use is often limited due to its potential side effects, including nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, which necessitate careful monitoring.
