ITGB5

Description

The ITGB5 (integrin subunit beta 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Integrin beta-5 is a protein encoded by the ITGB5 gene in humans. It forms heterodimers with various alpha chains, including alpha-V, to create integrins that play roles in cell adhesion and communication. ITGB5 is implicated in tumor progression and metastasis. Elevated levels of ITGB5 are associated with autosomal dominant osteopetrosis type II, a bone disorder.

Integrin alpha-V/beta-5 (ITGAV:ITGB5) is a receptor for fibronectin. It binds to the R-G-D sequence within fibronectin.

ITGB5 is also known as -.
