ITGA11

Description

The ITGA11 (integrin subunit alpha 11) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

ITGA11 encodes integrin alpha-11, a protein involved in cell-matrix interactions. It forms a complex with beta-1 integrin, which binds collagen, potentially connecting muscle tissue to the extracellular matrix. ITGA11 expression is elevated in corneal keratoconus, fibrotic diseases like liver cirrhosis, renal fibrosis, and lung fibrosis, as well as in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Decreasing ITGA11 levels in pancreatic stellate cells hinders their myofibroblast transformation and impacts paracrine signaling to tumor cells.

ITGA11 is also known as HsT18964.
