IRAK3

Description

The IRAK3 (interleukin 1 receptor associated kinase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

IRAK3 is an enzyme encoded by the IRAK3 gene in humans. It plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing the endothelial barrier after endotoxin-induced lung injury. Using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, researchers have shown that IRAK3 is responsible for the endotoxin-induced expression of A20 and VE-cadherin in endothelial cells.

IRAK3 is a putative inactive protein kinase involved in regulating signaling downstream of immune receptors, including IL1R and Toll-like receptors (TLR). It inhibits the dissociation of IRAK1 and IRAK4 from the TLR signaling complex by either inhibiting their phosphorylation or stabilizing the receptor complex. In response to IL33-induced lung inflammation, IRAK3 positively regulates the expression of IL6, CSF3, CXCL2, and CCL5 mRNAs in dendritic cells.

IRAK3 is also known as ASRT5, IRAKM.
