IRAK2

Description

The IRAK2 (interleukin 1 receptor associated kinase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

IRAK2 is an enzyme encoded by the IRAK2 gene. It's a serine/threonine kinase that gets involved with the interleukin-1 receptor (IL1R) when it's activated. IRAK2 plays a role in the increase of NF-kappaB expression due to IL1 stimulation. It has been observed to interact with TRAF6 and Myd88.

IRAK2 binds to the IL-1 type I receptor after IL-1 stimulation, activating intracellular signaling pathways. This leads to increased transcription and mRNA stability.

IRAK2 is also known as IRAK-2.
