IPO11-LRRC70

Description

The IPO11-LRRC70 (-) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 5.

Importin-11 (Imp11), also known as Ran-binding protein 11, acts as a nuclear transport receptor facilitating the import of proteins into the nucleus. It recognizes and binds to nuclear localization signals (NLS) within cargo proteins, mediating their docking to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) through interactions with nucleoporins. This import process is energy-dependent and relies on the GTP-bound form of Ran. Once inside the nucleus, Ran binds to Imp11, causing the dissociation of the importin/substrate complex. Imp11 is then exported back to the cytoplasm, where GTP hydrolysis releases Ran. The asymmetric distribution of Ran's GTP- and GDP-bound forms between the cytoplasm and nucleus contributes to the directionality of nuclear import. Imp11 has been demonstrated to mediate the nuclear import of UBE2E3 and RPL12.

IPO11-LRRC70 is also known as -.
