INSL5
Description
The INSL5 (insulin like 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
INSL5 is a protein produced by the INSL5 gene in humans. It shares characteristics with the insulin family of proteins and is very similar to relaxin 3 (RLN3/INSL7).
INSL5 may play a role in regulating gut contractions and thymic development. It powerfully activates RXFP4 and is believed to be the natural substance that binds to this receptor.
INSL5 is also known as PRO182, UNQ156.
