INPP5J

Description

The INPP5J (inositol polyphosphate-5-phosphatase J) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

INPP5J is an inositol 5-phosphatase that plays a crucial role in regulating cellular signaling pathways by converting inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) to inositol 1,4-bisphosphate (IP2). Additionally, it catalyzes the conversion of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) to phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PIP) and inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate (IP4) to inositol 1,3,4-trisphosphate (IP3) in vitro. INPP5J is believed to be involved in modulating the activity of proteins that bind to inositol and phosphatidylinositol polyphosphates, particularly at membrane ruffles.

INPP5J is also known as INPP5, PIB5PA, PIPP.
