ILKAP

Description

The ILKAP (ILK associated serine/threonine phosphatase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

ILKAP (Integrin-linked kinase-associated serine/threonine phosphatase 2C) is an enzyme encoded by the ILKAP gene in humans. It belongs to the PP2C family of protein serine/threonine phosphatases. ILKAP interacts with integrin-linked kinase (ILK/ILK1), a key regulator of integrin-mediated signaling. This interaction regulates ILK's kinase activity. Through its association with ILK, ILKAP can selectively influence the ILK-mediated glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3beta) signaling process, thus participating in the Wnt signaling pathway.

ILKAP is a protein phosphatase that regulates cell cycle progression by dephosphorylating substrates. This regulation is crucial for cell proliferation. ILKAP specifically interacts with integrin linked kinase (ILK), which modulates cell adhesion and growth factor signaling. ILKAP inhibits the ILK-GSK3B signaling axis, potentially playing a key role in suppressing oncogenic transformation.

ILKAP is also known as ILKAP2, ILKAP3, PP2C-DELTA, PP2CD, PPM1O.
