IL26

Description

The IL26 (interleukin 26) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

IL-26, IL 26, or IL26 may refer to:

IL-26 plays a role in local mucosal immunity and exhibits pro-inflammatory function. It is implicated in inflammatory bowel disease. It activates signaling pathways including STAT1/3, MAPK1/3 (ERK1/2), JUN, and AKT. IL-26 induces expression of SOCS3, TNF-alpha, and IL-8, promotes secretion of IL-8 and IL-10, and increases ICAM1 surface expression. It inhibits intestinal epithelial cell proliferation and is suppressed by heparin.

IL26 is also known as AK155, IL-26.
