Description
The IKZF3 (IKAROS family zinc finger 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
IKZF3, also known as Aiolos, is a protein encoded by the IKZF3 gene in humans. It belongs to the Ikaros family of zinc-finger proteins, which are hematopoietic-specific transcription factors involved in regulating lymphocyte development. IKZF3 acts as a transcription factor critical for regulating B lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation. Both Ikaros and Aiolos participate in chromatin remodeling. Aiolos's regulation of gene expression in B lymphocytes is complex, requiring the sequential formation of Ikaros homodimers, Ikaros/Aiolos heterodimers, and Aiolos homodimers. IKZF3 has been shown to interact with BCL2-like 1 and HRAS.
IKZF3 is a transcription factor that plays a key role in regulating lymphocyte differentiation. It is essential for proper B-cell differentiation, proliferation, and maturation into effector cells. IKZF3 is also involved in regulating BCL2 expression, controlling apoptosis in T-cells in an IL2-dependent manner.
