IGFBP6

Description

The IGFBP6 (insulin like growth factor binding protein 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

IGFBP-6 is a protein produced by the human IGFBP6 gene. It binds to insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and plays a role in regulating their activity.

IGF-binding proteins, like IGFBP-6, play a role in regulating the activity of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). They extend the lifespan of IGFs in the body and can either enhance or suppress the growth-promoting effects of IGFs on cells in culture. They influence how IGFs bind to their receptors on cell surfaces. IGFBP-6 specifically activates the MAPK signaling pathway and triggers cell migration.

IGFBP6 is also known as IBP6.
