IGFBP2

Description

The IGFBP2 (insulin like growth factor binding protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 is a protein produced by the IGFBP2 gene in humans.

IGFBP2 inhibits growth and developmental rates mediated by Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs). It prolongs the half-life of IGFs, potentially enhancing or reducing their growth-promoting effects on cell cultures. IGFBP2 modifies the interaction of IGFs with cell surface receptors.

IGFBP2 is also known as IBP2, IGF-BP53.
