IGBP1

Description

The IGBP1 (immunoglobulin binding protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

IGBP1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IGBP1 gene. B-cell proliferation and differentiation relies on a B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) complex. Binding of antigens to specific B-cell receptors triggers a tyrosine phosphorylation reaction through the BCR complex, initiating multiple signal transduction pathways.

IGBP1 is associated with the surface IgM receptor and may play a role in signal transduction. It regulates the activity of phosphatases PP2A, PP4, and PP6 by shielding their partially folded catalytic subunits from degradation through polyubiquitination until they bind with regulatory subunits. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:19818709, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23591866}

IGBP1 is also known as ALPHA-4, IBP1, MRXS28, alpha4.
