IFNLR1

Description

The IFNLR1 (interferon lambda receptor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The gene IL28RA encodes for the alpha subunit of the interleukin-28 receptor, a member of the class II cytokine receptor family. This protein forms a receptor complex with interleukin 10 receptor, beta (IL10RB). This receptor complex interacts with three related cytokines: interleukin 28A (IL28A), interleukin 28B (IL28B), and interleukin 29 (IL29). These cytokines are induced by viral infection. Cells overexpressing this protein show enhanced responses to IL28A and IL29 but decreased response to IL28B. Three distinct isoforms of this protein have been identified through alternative splicing.

IFNLR1 is also known as CRF2/12, IFNLR, IL-28R1, IL28RA, LICR2.
