IDO2
Description
The IDO2 (indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
IDO2 is a protein encoded by the IDO2 gene in humans. It's an enzyme responsible for breaking down tryptophan, a crucial amino acid. IDO2 is similar to another enzyme, IDO1, but differs in its activity, function, and where it's found in the body. IDO2 is mainly produced in tissues like the kidneys, liver, and certain immune cells. While IDO2 is less active on IDO1 substrates, it breaks down other tryptophan derivatives like 5-methoxytryptophan. It has been linked to immune tolerance and is found in various cancers like gastric, colon, and renal tumors.
IDO2 is also known as INDOL1.
