HYAL4
Description
The HYAL4 (hyaluronidase 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.
Hyaluronidase-4 (HYAL4) is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronan, a major component of the extracellular matrix, into smaller pieces. It also has the ability to break down chondroitin sulfate, another type of glycosaminoglycan. HYAL4 specifically targets the galactosaminidic linkage within a trisulfated tetrasaccharide of chondroitin sulfate.
HYAL4 is also known as CSHY, HYAL-4.
