HTRA3

Description

The HTRA3 (HtrA serine peptidase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

HTRA3 is a serine protease that degrades various extracellular matrix (ECM) components, including beta-casein, decorin, biglycan, and fibronectin. This degradation contributes to the inhibition of signaling by TGF-beta family proteins. HTRA3 has tumor suppressor activity and negatively regulates trophoblast invasion in placental development, potentially playing a role in placenta formation. It is also implicated in ovarian development, granulosa cell differentiation, and luteinization.

HTRA3 is also known as Prsp, Tasp.
