HTR3E

Description

The HTR3E (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3E) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

The HTR3E gene in humans produces a protein that is a part of the 5-HT3 receptor. This receptor is involved in the communication between nerve cells.

This protein forms complexes with other proteins to create channels that allow positively charged ions to pass through cell membranes. When these channels are activated by serotonin, they cause rapid changes in the electrical charge of neurons, leading to nerve cell communication.

HTR3E is also known as 5-HT3-E, 5-HT3E, 5-HT3c1.
