HSPH1

Description

The HSPH1 (heat shock protein family H (Hsp110) member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

Heat shock protein 105 kDa is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HSPH1 gene. HSPH1 has been shown to interact with Cofilin 1.

HSPH1 acts as a nucleotide-exchange factor (NEF) for chaperone proteins HSPA1A and HSPA1B, promoting the release of ADP from HSPA1A/B, thereby triggering client/substrate protein release. It prevents the aggregation of denatured proteins in cells under severe stress, when ATP levels decrease markedly. HSPH1 also inhibits HSPA8/HSC70 ATPase and chaperone activities.

HSPH1 is also known as HSP105, HSP105A, HSP105B, NY-CO-25.
