HPR

Description

The HPR (haptoglobin-related protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

HPR may refer to:

HPR is a primate-specific plasma protein found in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles. It associates with apolipoprotein L-I (apoL-I) to form the trypanosome lytic factor-1 (TLF-1) complex, which plays a crucial role in the innate immune response against African trypanosomes. HPR exhibits high affinity binding to hemoglobin, suggesting its potential involvement in the clearance of free hemoglobin and subsequent heme iron recycling in the liver.

HPR is also known as A-259H10.2, HP.
